300 mobile phones needed
Posted on September 11th, 2009 in business |
The Jack & Jill Foundation, through its partner Promethean, have launched a campaign where they are asking schools to swap 300 old mobile phones for a new interactive 78 inch Promethean ActivBoard.
My fiancée is a primary school teacher in Cork and she has begun to collect old mobile phones to get an interactive whiteboard for her classroom.
So far we have 19 mobile phones thanks to family and friends. I’m hoping that through the various businesses I know around the country that we can collect together 300 or more phones. Can you help?

19 phones so far..
If you have an old mobile phone lying around, I’ll collect it from you if you’re around Cork city.
It is estimated that there are over 10 million old phones in Irish households so 300 shouldn’t be too hard I hope.
I wonder would they settle for 1 large phone maybe?

Will be delighted to help Gordon - let me have a rummage in my drawers (!)
Do you need chargers with each one, or has that been specified?
Cool, Thanks John.
No need for a charger as far as I know. I only have 2 or 3 chargers so far anyway.
Gordon.
Gordon, the interactive whiteboards are a brilliant asset to a school and classroom. My wife is a national school teacher and has had one for nearly a year, she loves it, they are great piece of kit.
Dept of Education should be financing this kind of equipment if they are serious about producing a knowledge wealth economy. However, they haven’t and you need the phones.
Where can I send them to in the NE or send them direct?
Will send an email around UCC and that should get us a few - will keep you posted.
Joe
Hi Fran,
You’re in Dublin aren’t you? I’ll be in Dublin for Bizcamp next Saturday the 19th. If you’re free to meet some time I can pick any up from you if you like?
Hi Joe,
Great, Thank you!
[...] hiding away, let your school know of this offer or, if you’re in the Cork area, donate it to Gordon’s appeal. But whatever you do, try to give it a new home where it can do some [...]
